Terms of Service
Last updated October 13, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Study Buddy ("we", "us") about your use of the Study Buddy website and apps (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them.
1. Who can use Study Buddy
You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a contract where you live (or have a parent or guardian's permission). If you use Study Buddy for a school or organization, you confirm you're allowed to accept these terms for it.
2. Your account
Keep your password secret and your email current. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away if you think someone else has used it.
3. Your content
- You keep ownership of the files and text you upload ("Your Content") and the study sets made from them.
- You give us a limited license to store, process, and display Your Content only to run the Service for you and the people you share with, including sending it to our AI providers to generate questions.
- You confirm you have the right to upload Your Content. Course materials often belong to your instructor or school: only upload material you're allowed to use for your own study, and only share sets with people your course rules allow.
- We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law, or when we receive a valid copyright notice.
4. AI-generated questions
Questions, answers, and explanations are generated by AI from your material. We check them automatically, but they can still be wrong. They are a study aid, not professional, medical, or academic advice. Always check important facts against your course material and instructors.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use Study Buddy to:
- upload anything illegal, infringing, or that you don't have the right to share;
- cheat on graded work or break your school's academic integrity rules;
- attack, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the Service, or get around its limits;
- make extra accounts to get more free previews (it's one per person);
- harass anyone or upload other people's private information.
6. Plans, payments, and cancellation
- Paid plans are billed in advance through our payment processor (Stripe). Prices are shown before you pay.
- Monthly subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel anytime from your account page; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
- One-time passes last for the period shown at purchase and don't renew.
- Plan limits (sets and pages) are shown on the pricing page and may change with notice.
- Refunds: if something went wrong, contact us within 14 days of a payment. Where the law gives you more rights, those apply.
- If a payment is disputed with your bank (a chargeback), the plan it paid for ends, and the games made with it stop being shared. You can still see them in your account.
7. Sharing
Share links are unlisted: anyone with the link (and the class code, if you set one) can play the set. You're responsible for who you share with. You can turn sharing off or delete a set at any time.
8. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from your account page, which deletes your sets and uploads. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, including that it will be error-free or that using it will improve your grades. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses.
10. Changes
We may update these terms. If a change is significant we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
